A joint venture between wpd and GPSS Group (Higashi Izu Wind Power Godo Kaisha) held a groundbreaking ceremony on February 28, 2025, for the Higashi-Izu Furusato Wind Power Plant in Higashi-Izu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture.

The event was attended by Shigeki Iwai – Higashi-Izu Town Mayor, local district head, Masaaki Mezaki – President of GPSS Holdings Inc., Ltd., Takaaki Achiha – President of Achiha Co., Ltd., as well as Toshiyuki Unno – Representative Director and CEO of wpd Japan K.K. and Hans Christoph Brumberg, Managing Director of Asia business from wpd’s German headquarters.

Together they performed the groundbreaking ceremony as part of a safety prayer ritual.

This project involves installing wind power generation equipment with a capacity of 7.48 MW, which could supply around 4,500 households with electricity per year. The design and construction will consider environmental impact assessments and aim to promote harmony with the local community.
